A Rarity from 2010

This isn’t the highest quality shot but I was at the Ridgefield NWR back in April of 2010 and was given a tip that a Eurasian Green-winged Teal (EGWT) was around post 6 (my best recollection).  I headed over there and low and behold this male EGWT was probably 60-70 feet off the road.  But it spotted me quickly and began paddling.  I only got 3 frames.  I had a slow f6.3 500mm Bigma lens on my Canon 40D, shooting at ISO 400, which was pretty high for this camera.  Shutter speed was 1/250–very slow compared to what I shoot at now for moving birds.  But the shot was good enough to identify clearly the horizontal white feather line which separates this bird from its American cousin, which has a vertical white line.  This was one of those shots where I remember it like it was yesterday and remember how exciting it was to capture this bird.
