A look back to Sep. 2, 2014 at Ridgefield NWR where an immature American Bittern catches a tadpole/frog with a back light. The young bird is out in the open in a puddle of water probably not realizing how vulnerable it might be to large raptors. None of that hunting near tall grass for this guy!
