Splendor in the Rain (plus links to a ‘variety’ of bonus videos)

Jan. 15, 2016, at the Ridgefield NWR, I came upon over 100 Sandhill Cranes foraging (at marker #12) in the field at a distance of about 200-250 feet.  It was raining lightly and another crane appeared in the sky, preparing to join the flock on the ground.  I had my 2x tele-converter on the 500mm and decided to try some shots of these distant birds landing. This is one of the images captured at the minimum aperture of f8 and ISO 4000.

Also check out my video of a Short-eared Owl near the same location on the same day———-> Short-eared Owl video .  And, this is way off the subject but if you happen to be a guitar enthusiast or are a fan of Chet Atkins’ style of playing, while you’re at YouTube, please check out my attempt at a cover of Chet’s 1947 recording of the song, Mister Sandman.  Last but not least, my wonderful wife, Kathy, and I will celebrate our 44th year of marriage this April.  In 2012, we celebrated 40 years and I made a slideshow video full of pictures commemorating that milestone.  Please check it out if you like that ‘mushy’ kind of stuff. 🙂  It has a nice song for the soundtrack, “When God Made You.”
