Captured at Ridgefield NWR Sep. 26, 2013, this Kingfisher allowed me to ‘follow’ it from perch to perch (within a relatively small area) between markers #9 and 10. It dove into the water several times and managed to catch one small fish while I was observing. The challenge was that the noon time sun was out, casting harsh shadows making it tough to get an evenly lit bird with few distracting shadows. I actually had about 12 minutes to take about 200 pictures of the bird on various perches, many not worth keeping due to the harsh light. The bird was an estimated 40-50 feet away. Canon 5D Mark III, 1/2500, f5, ISO 1250, 500mm.
