Initial liftoff wing flap

I spent the daylight hours today, Nov. 17, 2016, at the Ridgefield NWR, where the day started out dark with a heavy cloud cover, but became brighter as the day progressed.  This is a Red-tailed Hawk executing its initial wing flap as its feet leave the perch.  The late afternoon sun had pierced the clouds, projecting its light onto this amazing creature.
