Non-stressful Kestrel

Typically, when a bird is holding onto the branch with just one foot, it’s in relaxation mode–hence, the title of today’s American Kestrel shot, “Non-stressful Kestrel.”  Taken Nov. 4, 2016, at the Ridgefield NWR.

Canon 7D Mark II, 1/1250, f4, ISO 400, 500mm, 11:43 a.m.

  1. Dennis, I was with Priscila Martins-Read today at the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge. We stopped briefly to talk with you as you were waiting on a good shot. Priscila encouraged me to check out your pictures online. I love all the pictures, and am stunned especially by the picture of the kestrel standing on one foot on a branch. Her spotted coat is just lovely. Do you have this particular photo made in notecards or prints?
