I recently posted a close up shot of one of the two immature Great Horned Owls that frequent the Ash Tree forest of the Ridgefield NWR. The above image, also taken Nov. 7, 2014, depicts the sibling of the one in the close up shot. The above owl was high in a tree, with a terrible back light, but at least I had a pretty clear shot. The bird is stretching out one if its massive wings. It’s great to see these two owls apparently doing well, now at about 7 months old. If they can survive their first year, they will have a good chance at growing old. 5D Mark III, 1/500, f4, ISO 1600, 500mm, 12:01 p.m.
