Who’s looking at who? from 106 yards

This is a shot I took July 28, 2014, at Ridgefield NWR, using my 500mm lens plus the Canon 2x III extender.  The eagle had just flushed about eight perched Turkey Vultures from this tree as it landed.  Unfortunately, I missed the landing because it happened while I was putting the extender on the lens!  So the last thing I saw was 8 vultures (which is what I was expecting to take pictures of), I looked down for about 30 seconds to add the extender, looked back up and the vultures were soaring over the tree and this eagle was sitting there proud as can be.  So I made shots of the eagle instead.  Out of curiosity, at home I measured the distance from the road to this tree using Google Earth and it came out to be 320 feet (about 106 yards).  Have I mentioned before that I love my lens (and camera)? 🙂  Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1600, f8, ISO 640, 1000mm.
