Immature Red-winged Blackbird

Immature Red-winged Blackbird

An immature Red-winged Blackbird greets the morning clinging to a cattail as yellow Marsh Marigolds lighten up the background to set off this really pretty bird.  I particularly like the intricate buff/brown edging on the feathers.  For many birds, the closer we get, the better they look.      Sep. 8, 2014, Ridgefield NWR.          Canon 5D Mark III, 1/640, f4, ISO 2000, 500mm, 7:31 a.m.
