I visited the Ridgefield NWR on April 24 and noticed that the Yellow-headed Blackbirds have returned to the marshes. There doesn’t seem to be very many visible from the auto tour road, though, and so far they’ve been quite skittish and keep their distance. However, an exception to this happened between markers #12 & 13 when this bird was walking along the edge of the road. He walked toward my truck as I took his picture and didn’t seem to mind getting fairly close. I’ve also noticed the return of the Common Yellowthroat 2 weeks ago but I haven’t been able to get a decent shot yet of the little rascals. Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1600, f5.6, ISO 800, 500mm.
