I was shooting at the Ridgefield NWR in Dec. 2009, and came across this Downy Woodpecker on a tree trunk. I shot many frames of the bird and didn’t realize until I got home and viewed the shots in Lightroom, that the bird had a hitchhiker–a Pacific Tree Frog. I have posted a set of shots on Flickr that shows different angles, some of which show the frog better than in others. Here is the set of shots on Flickr (scroll all the way through the comments to see the cropped image of the frog): http://www.flickr.com/photos/dsdavenport/4214866019/. This set of shots is by far my most viewed posting on Flickr due to its uniqueness (over 2100 views as of Nov. 2010).

Wow, I can’t believe today is the first time I have seen this!
Glad you found it Arman..it’s been buried pretty far down in the stack! It garnered a lot of interest when I first posted it, so I thought I’d give it another showing on my site and on Facebook. I still can’t believe it!
