This sometimes underrated bird was perched on a cattail at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, backed by a bright yellowish/green glow. Many times I end up trashing shots where the background is much brighter than the bird. I ended up liking the color of the background and because the bird is so much darker, it makes the bird pop in a reverse fashion than I am accustomed to seeing. I took this shot with a Canon 7D, 1/250, f7.1, 400mm, ISO320, flash fired at -2/3 FC, Canon 400mm f5.6L lens.
