I spotted several Yellow-headed Blackbirds June 14, 2017, at the Ridgefield NWR. Male, female, and juveniles were much more comfortable around the gravel road, often times landing on the road to forage. Just a few weeks ago I was lucky to see them perched within 150 feet of the road. The pictured male would fly low, in a line parallel to the road and just above the tall grass.
