PC Down

Hi folks, My PC’s motherboard decided to die about a week ago and we had to order another mobo to replace it.  My 10-year old laptop barely has the space for Photoshop and Lightroom let alone being able to run them.  Guess I need to pull the trigger and get an updated lap ... Continue Reading

Bald Eagle Behavioral Series – Dec. 29, 2014 ...

I had a nice response to my 7-image series of three Bald Eagles that I took at the Ridgefield NWR in late 2014. There were also some requests to post it all in one spot to minimize the clicking to get to each image.  So below (waaaaayyy below!) are all 7 images starting with the ... Continue Reading

The new EF 100-400 f4.5 – 5.6L IS II USM lens is now available for pre-order.  It appears to be a nice upgrade to the present 100-400.  It will be interesting to see the tests comparing it (at 400mm) to the EF 400mm f5.6L prime for image clarity.  If it performs well, th ... Continue Reading

Two American Bitterns Interacting

In my almost 8 years of photographing wildlife at the Ridgefield NWR, in Washington state, I have never seen two American Bitterns at the same time, let alone out in the open and interacting with each other. To me, the bird on the left appears to be smaller and probably younger&# ... Continue Reading

July 7, 2014 – East side of Mt. Hood, OR ...

Several factors made me decide to try something different for today’s (July 7, 2014) photo shoot.  One, Ridgefield NWR is relatively quiet this time of year and the grass is very high, making shots that I could easily take in winter, very difficult now.  Two, I am in need ... Continue Reading

May 7, 2014 – Ridgefield NWR and Port of Rid ...

Today, May 7, I had a great time shooting an Osprey nest at the Port of Ridgefield on the Lake River.   I visited here for the first time a few days before this shoot in the afternoon and the sun was not where I wanted it to be.  So I came back on May 7 at sun up when the sun w ... Jan. 15, 2014 – Ridgefield NWR – 52 I ...

I looked back at my Jan. 15 shots and noticed I had taken about a thousand frames that day. Usually when I shoot that many frames in an outing it indicates that the wildlife activity was pretty good that day.  So I went through all the shots and tried to come up with ones that w ... Continue Reading
