“Just hangin’ ’round”

“Just hangin’ ’round”

This Great Horned Owlet has been out of the nest about a week.  He perched on a skinny branch and somehow lost his balance.  Taken at Ridgefield NWR May 2, 2012.  Needless to say, he was a little embarrassed but he recovered by letting go of the branch and landing properly on a branch below this one.  Lighting was very challenging on this one!

This photo took honorable mention in the Ridgefield NWR 2012 photo contest.

Taken with a Canon 7D, 1/640, f5.6, ISO800, Canon 400mm f5.6L lens.

  3. This is awesome! The owl did an awesome position. Isn’t that great? It’s like you asked him to do that. You’ve been really patient capturing this image. I love it so much.
