Ovenbird in Portland, OR

Ovenbird in Portland, OR

Here’s a rarity in this part of the country, especially for winter time.  This Ovenbird should be vacationing in Mexico right now but for some reason, the wind blew him toward Portland, OR.   Taken with a Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1000, f5.6, ISO 5000, Canon 400mm f5.6L lens.   I have more shots of the Ovenbird in my blog posting for Jan. 22, 2013.  This photo was chosen to be published in the March/April 2013 edition of the Portland Audubon Society’s Warbler newsletter (pg. 11).

Follow up:  March 4, 2013:  I have heard reports from the owner of the residence where the Ovenbird visits that the bird is still appearing there.  What a treat for Portlanders!
