My first subject of the day at the Ridgefield NWR on March 23, 2016, this Pied-billed Grebe opened its mouth. It didn’t make any sound–just appeared to be yawning–as it was 8:30 in the morning. I normally wouldn’t have stopped to shoot him but the green reflection in the water was too much to resist.
