Approaching sunset as this female Bufflehead stretches its wings after making several dives underwater for food. I observed that females can be as aggressive as male Buffleheads this time of year when it comes to chasing other Buffleheads away. These ducks are known to nest in abandoned tree cavities made by Northern Flickers.
