Freedom of Flight

Lots of Great Egrets at the Ridgefield NWR on July 19, 2012.  I got shots of several of them taking off and flying almost over me.  Taken with a Canon 7D, 1/1250, f5.6, ISO400, Canon 400mm f5.6L lens.

  1. This is such a cool shot! LOVE the light coming from behind/above the bird! It makes it look almost like he’s glowing. Great one, Papa!

    1. Thank you, Kimi! There were about 20 egrets way out on Rest Lake and I noticed that every few minutes one or two would take off and fly east across the road. So I drove over to the east side of the lake and waited. I took a lot of frames of several birds but this one came the closest to me.
