  1. Bruce, you are too kind! A lot of the sparrows are underrated by many—so much so that they have earned the name LBJ (little brown job). 🙂 So if I get a good look at a sparrow, I’ll take the time to shoot. There were a pair of these smaller birds and they were abnormally unafraid of me at only about 15 feet away. The juveniles just don’t have the ‘smarts’ to realize that they should fly away. I was pleased with this shot as I believe it is my first of a juvie GCS.

    To answer your question as to whether I talk to the animals, I actually do occasionally make select “noises” to get larger birds and mammals to stop, turn their heads, peak their interest, etc. It can give you a pose for a few more frames. Hawks and eagles will respond to certain noises, as will herons, coyotes and deer.
