A summer day at the Ridgefield NWR, August 4, 2016, where I was treated to a blast off of about 35 Great Egrets at one of the marsh areas. But today’s shot is of a female Belted Kingfisher perched on a branch over a creek in the Ash tree forest. I observed this bird with another one quite a few times during the day–they may be young siblings based on their relative non-skittish behavior.
