Among the many raptors we had a chance to capture in flight on Dec. 14, 2014, at Ridgefield, was the Northern Harrier. A superb flyer whether high in the sky or low to the ground. This bird has an almost owl-like feathered disc around its face that accentuates its hearing capabilities for hunting. Pictured is a juvenile with its plain pale underbelly and dark eyes.
