Harrier Lift Off

I’ve been going through some older images in my Lightroom catalog doing some house cleaning and came across this nicely colored Northern Harrier at lift off.  This was taken Feb. 14, 2014, at the Ridgefield NWR, and I recall the bird was quite a distance out in the field.  I think I was hoping it would fly closer to me after taking off — silly me!  Anyway, I resurrected this shot because I really like the pose with her talons just hanging there.

Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1250, f5.6, ISO 800, 700mm, 2:01 p.m.
