The highlight of today’s shoot at the Ridgefield NWR, July 3, 2015. My brother Gary, photography friend Carolyn, and myself spent some time watching this immature male Northern Harrier. It’s base seems to be a fence post hundreds of feet out in the middle of a field. It took off and landed on the post several times but not really coming close enough to us for decent shots. Once it made its catch, it flew closer to us than before and right by three cameras aiming at it, as if to say, “Look what I got!” And it got the rodent despite very long grass. Such an amazing hunter.
