King of the Haystack

Many of the grassy fields at the Ridgefield NWR are cut down and baled.  On July 26, 2017, I came across this male American Kestrel perched on the corner of one of the top bales which were stacked high.  When it flew off, it joined another kestrel hunting the freshly mowed landscape.
