A female Northern Harrier is fat and happy after making a meal of a mouse she caught about 45 minutes earlier. This is the same bird pictured in my earlier post where she looked like she was playing with her catch before devouring it. After the meal, she took at least 30-minutes preening, then lifted off with her eyes trained directly on me. This shot isn’t as good, detail-wise, as the first shot but I liked the pose and eye contact here. Sep. 8, 2014, Ridgefield NWR.
