June 26, 2014, I approached this Wilson’s Snipe in my truck, which was standing in the middle of the gravel road at the Ridgefield NWR. It allowed me to get relatively close as it vocalized in the rain. I pushed ISO to 3200 so I could stop down a bit to f5, which gave me a little more depth of field beings I was so close (about 20 feet). I might have been able to give up a little shutter speed but I did want to catch the bird singing, which introduced extra motion in the bill. So I stuck with 1/1000. Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1000, f5, ISO 3200, 500mm.
