I took a trip to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge on April 3, 2013, and the first sound I heard when getting set up for my shoot was the song of the Common Yellowthroat. These little colorful beauties always ring in April at the refuge with their unmistakable song. I was fortunate to capture this male singing between markers #12 and 13, but I could hear them almost everywhere on the refuge. The bird migrates from the south to North America to just south of the Tundra. Canon 5D Mark III, 1/1000, f6.3, ISO 1600, Canon 400mm f5.6L lens.

Wow…wish I would see one of these guys when we go up there… They know when you are there, Gary..
Thanks, Sue! By the way, I’m Dennis, not Gary. 🙂 Gary’s my brother. You aren’t the first to mix us up.
