Aug. 26, 2015, and I’m still standing out on the gravel road of the Ridgefield NWR shooting flight images of various birds (of which I’ve posted a few earlier). I look down the road and see this mainly dark colored bird with a brown head standing on the road about 40 feet in front of me. Looking through the lens I see it has yellow eyes. My first guess is a juvie male Brewer’s Blackbird but I’ve never seen one before so I could easily be mistaken. I start shooting away at the bird and it begins to walk toward me! I keep shooting and it approaches even closer. After another minute it walks right by me and my truck! Then flies away. Certainly the behavior of a juvenile.
