I was notified by my brother tonight that my friend, great bird photographer, and frequent visitor to the Ridgefield NWR, Todd Steckel, has passed away due to a heart attack. I was stunned to hear this sad news. In the past year, I have been fortunate to go on several shoots with Todd and to converse with him about various bird photography subjects. I had great respect for Todd and learned from him. Today’s shot is an immature Bald Eagle–one of Todd’s favorite photographic subjects. He loved to pursue these majestic birds at Ridgefield (and elsewhere) and photograph them so others could enjoy them in his high quality photos. This image is dedicated to Todd.
