Mar. 6, 2015, at the Ridgefield NWR, I was so close to this Red-tailed Hawk that I had to swivel the camera to portrait position to get the whole bird in the shot. I was particularly happy that the bird was on a natural perch and not a sign or post. I did receive a bruise on my forearm due to the contortions necessary to aim the lens out the passenger side window pointing back toward the rear of my truck. It’s a tough life! 🙂
