In June 2010, I used one of my 2 authorized days in the normally restricted part of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. In 2008, I had entered a photo in the Ridgefield photo contest and it was recognized. My ‘prize’ was 2 days behind the gates. A Kingbird pair was located on the Bachelor Island Unit. While we (my daughter and I) weren’t able to get super close, this was a lifer for me. Taken with an EOS 40D, 1/1000, f5.6, 380mm, ISO400, +1/3EV, with the Canon 100-400mm lens.
